This is a custom title
Hello

I'm really happy to announce the highly anticipated release of Sordina 2, the ultimate mute emulator plugin from Libre Wave. Building upon the success of its predecessor, Sordina 2 now includes string mute models, bringing the total number of mutes to over 260!

For existing customers this is a free update. Sordina 2 is installed through Rhapsody (v2.3.1 or higher) and you should see it already in your account when you log in. If you're not seeing it or notice any other issues just send me a message and I'll get it fixed.

If you're interested in experimenting with the mutes employed in Sordina 2, you can explore the Bell & Bone sample library for free. This library includes 6 mute options that utilize a technique very similar to that of Sordina 2.

Key Features:

* 267 Mute Models:
178 for brass, 86 for strings, and 3 for saxophone. Meticulously crafted to deliver authentic and expressive muted tones.

* 64-bit VST3 and AU Support: Seamless integration with your favorite digital audio workstation (assuming it's not Pro Tools). Sordina 2 is available in 64-bit VST3 and AU formats, ensuring compatibility across a wide range of platforms.

* Versatility: Whether you're working with brass instruments, strings, or other sources, Sordina 2 empowers you to explore new creative options. Experiment with different mute models to find the perfect tone for your project.

* Enhanced User Interface: Sordina 2 has a brand new and intuitive interface. It's mostly vector based and will scale perfectly on any size screen.

Special Launch Offer: Until January 1st Sordina 2 is 50% off! Regular price is £74.99/$95, sale is £34.99/$44.

Thanks for your support.

Fantastic news David, the other day I was just thinking about how nice it would be to have Sordina also for the strings and voilà just served with this new update :)

I just sent you an email as I do not see this new update in my LibreWave account and I have a license for Sordina 1.

It's so generous of you to provide this update free of charge for existing costumers :emoji_pray:

Take care,

Maximvs

Great! When I go to the "Library" tab to see my product, and download the OS version, I get a file called sordina_2_plugin_osx_1_0_2.lwz that I cannot open, and which I have never encountered before (usually it is a .pck / package file). What do I do?

Hi Peter,

You need to install it through Rhapsody - https://librewave.com/rhapsody/

Let me know if you need any help with it.

Okay, so out of curiosity, what is that lwz file?
It's a zip file with the extension changed.

Why did I change the extension? Because in Safari if you download a zip file it will automatically extract it (some other browsers do this as well but in Safari it's the default behavior) and this screws up the installation process because the user just gets a load of files dumped in their downloads folder. So I change the extension to fool Safari.

Hi Peter,

This confused me too. You should probably adjust your installation guide if this is the case. The install guide says "For Rhapsody instruments, click here. For everything else, keep reading." Then, of course, if you keep reading, it just talks about a Windows .exe installer, which isn't what you get.

I would have had no idea that Sordina was a Rhapsody "instrument" (or even known what Rhapsody was) if you hadn't said so in here, because it isn't an instrument to begin with, but an effect plugin.

Typically I wouldn't even have to look at the installation guide, but after purchasing, other than the key, I didn't get any link to download it, and had to dig into "My Account" to try to find it, only to end up with an .lwz that I had no idea what to do with. The order email also doesn't have anything other than the key and other things given to me. It would be ideal if the user could be told on the order page and/or in the order email to download Rhapsody to install this.

Great plugin, though. So many mute choices I feel overwhelmed in some cases. Better to have too many options though than too few!

This is an absolute triumph! Suddenly, every string library has been upgraded to the Articinfinity Engine, with a wealth of options akin to Rockefeller at his height.
Wish that spiccato were a bit less scratchy, as though played a little less hard and a bit more sul tasto? You're covered. Layering up solo instruments from various libs for a chamber sound, and want to unify them a little? Suddenly you're spoilt for choice about how to go about that.
I'm already in love with this, and I haven't even touched any of the Brass mutes, because they were already so solid in 1, and to get this as a free upgrade is generosity bordering on the insane.
@d.healey you are an absolute foot! Sorry, I mean the end of a leg, no, no, I mean a Legend!

The MIDI CC controls don't seem to work in Cubase. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

It also doesn't seem to remember the MIDI CC assignments - I assigned CC44 to control one plugin's active button and CC45 to control another and when I quit Cubase, the CC mapping is gone from the active button.

I have the same problem in S1, I've opened a support ticket. Looking forward to being able to simulate circular bowing with the mix control.
Given that the options are there, but not sticking, and that CC assignment works as expected in Rhapsody as a whole, I suspect this will be resolved.

I'd be grateful if it was possible to just make the zip archive available (MacOS). I do not want to go through another downloader and I know how to handle ZIP archives. If you archive it within a folder things will not spill out everywhere when extracted automatically, though smart people on MacOS most likely wouldn't use Safari for that anyway...

It is a ZIP archive, you just have to rename the file to end in .ZIP.

I don't see the new version in my account, either through my browser, or through Rhapsody. I bought v1.0.2 on 24th March 2022.

When I try to add my licence to Rhapsody it says:

Server Error 400:
The license is currently active and cannot be transferred.

How can I resolve this?
