Wavetick is a new beatmaker marketplace created by artists FOR artists - selling copyright free sounds and tracks peer to peer, with a number of unique features. The site is open to anyone to sell, with platform commission at just 12.5%.

www.wavetick.com

Users can buy or sell one-off, limited edition (1 of 10, 1 of 100 and 1 of 200) and unlimited licenses of works. Sellers can set their own pricing in their own currency, are paid instantly via a connected Paypal account and can cancel at any time. It's fully free to sell on platform.

Producers can onboard frictionlessly and readily sell works in just minutes. The platform allows sample packs, full tracks, presets and MIDI files to be sold.

Buyers pay one price for ALL usages - so a track can be used restriction free in any new work or production without the need for additional license fees.

Products are auto-tagged by a unique purchase tier colour, giving buyers easy-to-understand but robust terms for the license of their work.

Having launched a few weeks ago, the site already offers more than 20,000 individual stems and sounds across 800 products.

In addition Wavetick also features an in-house sounds and tracks label crafted by some of the finest producers in the country - Wavetick Sounds - with over 40 releases covering esoteric electronic genres through to classical strings by the Sofia Philharmonic.

by royalties, do you mean that you guys would get a perpetual percentage of payments associated with the songs sold on your platform?

Hi @Jrides,

Sellers keep 87.5% of the purchase price for the usage license of their tracks or sound packs to buyers.

If/when tracks are used in a new song by buyers, sellers share in the revenue generated from that work 50/50 (publishing and master revenue)

If/when samples are used in a new song by buyers, buyers keep the revenue from that song

Welcome to VI! And congrats on this new venture! I don't see anything that tells us about the company itself. Am I just missing this? Thanks!

Thanks! Wavetick is headquartered in London, UK and founded by Sharooz Raoofi, the original founder of Sample Magic (sounds label now owned by Splice) and Dynamic Music (production music library operated by BMG Production Music). Our team has over 20+ years experience in the music technology industry and started Wavetick as a direct result of feedback from producers and purchasers of royalty free beats.

You can find out more about our mission statement on our social pages.

You read that correctly! That's the user's own pricing. They're selling the entire IP rights to the work for that price - a price which they believe is fair. We're not responsible for user pricing, but we do offer informal guidelines in our upload forms. There are of course a wide variety of license prices available on the platform. I believe that's the most expensive track we currently have on the store.

That's cool, I got lots of respect for Sharooz as a fellow synth nerd 😉 I actually bought his sample business masterclass on Aulart and learned a lot from him. The terms of this website actually seem quite fair and respectful to all parties involved. I look forward to giving it a try.

We believe this is the fairest way to have sellers share perpetually in the success of the usage of their work in a derivative song, if they wish to.

Of course, if as a buyer this isn't suitable - you can always use the sounds on the site, for which you won't have to come to an arrangement with the seller to share royalties.

We do also have a purchase tier where certain tracks can be used without any future royalty consideration - essentially think of these as stock or library music tracks.

We've broken it down below. We're essentially offering as much flexibility as we can for both buyers and sellers

Thanks for the kind words! We look forward to welcoming you on Wavetick

Ah ok thanks for the clarification!

What's the difference between a track and a sample?

In terms of the raw recording there is no difference - on our platform Track and Sound are technical terms used to differentiate the license types.

A Track is uploaded by users as a singular 2-track Wav file and optional stems can be uploaded as a zip

A Sound is uploaded as a zipped folder and can be a sample pack filled with Wavs, MIDI or presets.

When a user sells a Track, their CAE/IPI number is provided to the individual who purchases it, with the understanding that it will be registered as a derivative new work by the purchaser if used in that manner. User uploaded tracks are termed as 'Gold' tier works

A Sound (pack) does not attract any further publishing interest when it is used by the buyer. Sounds are termed as 'Bronze' or 'Silver' works.

We also have 'Platinum' tier Tracks on the site which we as a platform own the rights to and publish - these tracks are intended to be used in pro sync and not in derivative works. In this scenario, a cue sheet is expected to be filled by the user - with Wavetick and the original writer of the track to be joint beneficiaries of any performance revenue.
