Kontakt7.vst3 is crashing all my DAWs

Hi all,

I don't know why the mods of vi-control deleted my other post without a warning (double posting, but they should have deleted have this thread). There were some reactions and unfortunately I can't read them now.

The problem:

Since 3 weeks Kontakt (7.8.0) keeps crashing my Nuendo (13) projects at random moments. It started with Kontakt 6.8.0 in Nuendo 11 and I have upgraded everything to rule out it had something to do with older versions. I even did a clean install of my Windows 10, because Native Instruments said this could fix the issue. After 3 weeks of troubleshooting with Native Instruments, with not a lot of help from their side, the problem still continues.

I have tried it in a small project, with only a few instances and even in a project with only one instance of Kontakt. It still happend. After that I tried it in Ableton (11 Live), still happened.

I'm on Windows 10, everything is up to date. There are no CPU spikes whatsoever, I have a fairly new computer with 128RAM.

In my project I'm only running Kontakt 7, Kontakt 6 is deleted from my system. Everything is up to date. I have a new RME Fireface UCXII and use a KK MK2 S88.

Native Instruments agreed the issue is within Kontakt (all my 100s of Crashdumps point in that direction), but they are not willing to help me. I have pointed in the direction of other people having the same issue, so hopefully they will start taking this problem seriously very soon, because at the moment I literally can't work as there is no alternative to Kontakt.

I'm hoping someone here can help me.

Thanks in advance
Toon

I'm having the same problem in Reaper with Kontakt crashing pretty often. All the crash logs say is that it's Kontakt causing the issue. Since reading your post, I've decided to take out CSS from my template to see if it works. So far so good!

I will add that I'm using Dot's modification of Ihnoc's original "CSS Control Panel" Script for the latency adjustments.

Hi David, thanks for your response. Unfortunately, for me the issue reoccured after a while. So it wasn't CSS after all. Hopefully it will keep working for you.

Came back to say the same thing. Just had it happen to me again. No idea what the problem is now. I do notice that the more instances of Kontakt I have, the higher chance it occurs.

It looks like you have the same issue as me. Are you in contact with Native Instruments? Did anything change in your setup when the crashes started happening?

Weirdly Native Instruments says they can't help me, although they agree the problem is with Kontakt. It's not a good look on them.

In my project I'm only running Kontakt 7, Kontakt 6 is deleted from my system.

When I tried K7 I had more crashes in a day than I had in K6 in a year, so I still build all my projects around K6 wherever I can and to some degree it affects my decisions on what libraries I'm using.

If you have the option, I'd try going back to K7.6.1 and see if it crashes less than 7.8.

I'm sure they are willing, just maybe not capable yet.
