What's new

BBCSO PRO (upgrade from core which is great) or Abbey Road Two strings??

This is exactly what I did. AR2 Core+BBCSO Core sounds absolutely fantastic.

But, it really depends whether you're looking for "proper first chairs" for the strings which AR2 can give you; or just section leaders for strings, but also more instruments, and more mic positions- which is what the upgrade to Pro would give you.

Depends on what you're looking for. Need more mic positions and additional instruments? Get BBC Pro. Need some Eleanor Rigby strings? Get AR2.

But ya know, there's always the option to get both :sneaky:

Thank you very helpful! The combination sounds like a great option from what you say! I honestly don’t ever remember to change the mics on libraries I already own with the option to. And you say they blend nicely? BBCSO core and AR2?

What’s the studio orchestra track? Which libraries are those?
Thanks :)
Spitfire Studio Orchestra (Strings, Brass, Woodwinds). I bought in with the Winter Classics Bundle in December. Kinda wish I held out for BBC, but Studio has more articulations and even portamento legato. The bundle included JB Perc and a couple AR1 selections so it was hard to pass.

Oh wow, that is a great bundle. The JB percussion is one I have and love! Yes I know which ones you mean no I’ve been tempted to try the studio ones myself. So many wormholes.
What were/are the issues with AR2??

ah, I feel bad being vague as I can't really remember the AR2 issues exactly, something with the ensembling patch and probably mic stuff (Studio Pro has issues with stereo mixes). Better to search on here for the posts than quote me... I know Paul said they did some updating to the AR2 and AR1 stuff so I'll bet they addressed the main ones.

I love JB Perc too! Wish it had Taikos and Surdos, but I'll prolly get an ensemble OT patch from MA3 for that...

No worries at all. I'm still torn, but no fault of yours. People say AR2 core sounds really good, and I think the problems were mainly on AR2 Pro. Thanks for your thoughts!

I believe the main issue with AR2 were related to loading times and CPU usage. I think both were addressed in December and/or January. They haven’t had any real issues in my usage aside from the usual Spitfire inconsistencies.

Thank you. So do you enjoy the AR2 sounds?
