Hey Everyone. I am starting a new filmmusic business LIVE zoom seminar I want to announce and invite folks to take.
2 Days...12 total hours of live conducted seminar time plus an additional 1 hr individual consult with me about anything you want at a time you and I can schedule.
For those that don't know me, I have been a working film/TV/Media composer in Los Angeles for 23 years. An Alum of the USC screen scoring program from way back and for the last 13 years I have been also teaching the "Business Of Film Music" course in the UCLA Extension film scoring certificate program. A required curriculum course I developed for UCLA Extension and I am the only one who has ever taught it. It is a class that I still do for them to this day. But I want to take this concept further and do something different, more intensive and focused on key things composers need to know from a business perspective.
So many of these educational programs are about "the notes" and the "tech." But people come out of these courses and curriculums and quickly learn that they know nothing about the business side of being a composer. This seminar course is all about THE BUSINESS. Everything BUT writing the notes. We will discuss contracts, licensing, LLCs, budgeting, cue sheets, PROs, websites, philosophy on your fee...communicating with directors and more. See my graphic here on the concrete things you will come away with from this seminar course.
I will only offer this a few times a year when I am not teaching the UCLA course. There is a WEEKEND version starting Feb 4 and a WEEKDAY version starting Feb 20. They are taught live via Zoom...nothing is pre-recorded. You will get a download to keep the videos of the sessions. I invite interested folks to check it out at http://filmmusic.business. I have a short video there that will also delve into more about this course and the concrete things you will get out of it. Happy to answer any questions here on the seminar course.
Cheers,
Brian
