Setting up multiple tracks within OPUS (FL studio)

Hey all, so I've been working through understanding how OPUS is put together and getting used to the basics. However for some I can't really seem to figure out how you are intended to have multiple instrument tracks operating at once without opening multiple instances of Opus.

I see that you can have multiple instruments in a single instance of OPUS however they seem to be slaved to the Fruitywrapper in terms of routing to the mixer i.e. I can have 8 instruments at once in an OPUS instance but I can only send them to a single mixer track, I can't divide instruments without just opening another OPUS somewhere else which doesn't seem right.

Any insight is appreciated.

I just load one instance by track, but try this and I'm not quite sure how well it works, since I haven't dabbed there yet.

Open the Orchestrator, create a new User Empty Preset, then you will have all 4 sections in front of you.

Then all instruments names are pre loaded

Using Woodwinds as an example, all sections above have all instruments pre arranged from the highest registry to the lowest ones.

Same applies for the rest of the sections.

Finally, work them in Free Mode

Then, having a single Orchestrator Instance, you will go back and forth between only Two Tabs/WINDOWS in Orchestrator:

The PERFORM WINDOW

And the PLAY WINDOW

Via the Drop Down menu above displayed, you change instruments immediately.

Finally the routing

I'm using the Standalone for examples, so my outs here vs your outs in a DAW are quite different. Still, it's:

In the same PERFORM TAB, but HIT THE MIXER

Then in the OUTPUT dropdown menu you select the channels.

But also, there's the MIX TAB

Select the routing there and add Effects there if any.

Have fun

PS. I don't know FL Studio but it's this workflow.

Add One track with Orchestrator Instance.

Add X quantity of tracks according to the instruments you have loaded in the Orchestrator.

Route each channel in the Orchestrator Mix to the other tracks (and proper set those tracks their corresponding channel output numbers)

you can route your instruments from Opus using either "midi out" or the free 3rd party plugin BRSO articulate

@Cornonthebob this^
You can do this with every plugin/sampler that allow multitimbral, like Kontakt, SINE, VSL (even tho you need Vienna Ensemble for that to work, only the synchron or VI player are not enought) etc etc.
You just then need to route the mixer track and the midi channel inside the sampler and you are good to go.

Could you explain the routing via midi out more if possible? Thanks for the insight by the way!

Also...have fun making your template (it is not fun LOL)

In Opus is the same, i no longer have Opus installed on my pc, so i cannot screenshot it for you, but if i remember right it works this way.

to change the mixer tracks/outputs, just click on where it says "OPUS 1 & 2" and there should be a dropdown that let you select the mixer tracks, then to change the midi channel right below the mixer route option when it says "Omni" once again, if you just click on it, it should have a drop down to let you choose the different midi channel you want.

it is basically the same as for BRSO Articualte,

1. set the vst wrapper settings of opus "input port" to the port number you want to use.

2. then open a instance of "midi out"

3. set the channel to the channel number of the instrument in opus you want to use. if you don't know what you are doing go to the opus preferences and inside "midi" set the "midi channel assignment" to "auto increment"

4. set the port to the same number as the "input port" in step 1

5. open the piano roll for the "midi out" and play some notes , the opus instrument you selected should play.

Got it to work! Thanks.

So unfortunately that leads into another question. Unless I did something wrong, so the instrument will change in MIDI out via changing the channel. However, how would I assign these to the mixer?
