What's new

Hello Everyone

My name is Ron Perrillo. I am a lifelong jazz pianist of over 40 years. Spent the vast majority of my career in Chicago where I had an amazing trio who performed and recorded with many of the greats. Just months before the pandemic hit decided to move to the PNW to be closer to my now 84 yr old mom, who thankfully is still in robust health, curious about the world around her and fun to hang with.

As professional jazz musicians we become pretty accustomed to pondering catastrophes or "what-if's", but I for one never imagined a worldwide pandemic that would end the life I've known for over 40 years. Desperate to keep what little sanity I still possessed, for the first time in my life, turned to my computer to create music. The learning curve is incredibly steep for someone like myself, but it's helped keep me alive. Discovering sample libraries for the first time has been revelatory and I'm certainly guilty of what seems to be a common beginner mistake of purchasing more libraries than I needed to get started. All money I didn't have by the way :2thumbs:

In any case, thanks for reading. I'm excited to learn from all of you, your collective brain trust and expertise.

Welcome Ron! I'm a fairly new member myself, from Sweden. My main instrument is the piano too. Started out doing some orchestral music just some years ago, but have been writing a lot of music, and playing different kinds of music trhough my life.
