Hello all. Just wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself. I am from Montreal Canada. I have been out of the musical loop (for lack of a better word) for close to four decades. Sadly, I am not finding the comeback as easy as getting back on a bike. Obviously, the technology has changed dramatically and my focus, energy and motivational level is just not what it used to be.

Regardless, I am up for the challenge and am hoping that this forum will be a helpful part of my journey back.

Peter, being a pre-newbie myself, I can certainly relate. However, you will find a great many members of the forum to be friendly, knowledgeable, and an unfailing source of helpful advice.
See that search box up on the right? You will find the keys to the kingdom within
Welcome, dive right in, and best wishes

Please forgive me for getting back to you and not thanking you all for the gracious welcome messages. Much appreciated.

I also had to get back into the groove after a long while. The good news is hardware and software are so much better, there are an infinite number of good libraries, and a lot of amazing help on this forum!

Oh. And huge bonus: PC vs Mac epic battles.

Hope you are making the best of your comeback @aeliron The only thing missing for me at the moment is a sprinkle of inspiration.

Welcome to the forum. I am also based from Canada. A good group of ppl here.

It has never been easy. But other than the technology, the same things still apply in music. Youth, energy and vibrant modern music sells. The legacy older artists also populate the oldies circuit as always. When I was doing it in the 90s and 00s, we could not compete on the charts b/c we refused to make (or didn't know how to make?) Rap and R&B..

I take it that you did not tune into the BET Hip Hop Awards back in November :2thumbs:

oh.. no.. i follow rap and R&B these days.. i stopping being a 80s hair spray rocker long time ago..

i still get flashbacks of this big label meeting when i was a young pup.. so there we are, a bunch of out of the loop rockers still listening to Def Lepards and meeting with a big time producer to produce our new album.. and he goes, "did you guys listen to the new Snow single".. and one the guys replies.. "oh yeah, we get a lot of snow in Sudbury " (he misheard the question)

In my case, my wife's niece demanding in no uncertain terms that I write a song for her wedding o_O

But inspiration can strike in the unlikeliest of places ... last night, for example, a certain patch while watching a walkthrough of Playbox! So just be on the lookout :scout: for something which will send you running for your DAW/recorder/instrument!

@aeliron Looking forward to hearing that little gem that you're putting together. Please share when complete. Enjoy your time at the wedding BTW.
