Recent Posts vs Latest Posts

I've been puzzled by this for months, and I couldn't find any info in the help or by searching. I guess it's time to admit my ignorance and ask. :blush:

What is the difference between the "Recent Posts" button and the "Latest Posts" button? I can't tell what the criteria is for "recent" or "latest".

Please do feel free to give a hefty virtual dope-slap if I'm missing something blatantly obvious. :confused:

Latest posts con't contain the recent posts that you have viewed.

I certainly would not miss the "recent posts" button if "latest posts" would contain all the latest posts. I also found it quite confusing and counter-intuitive, that threads you replied to disappeared in the "latest posts", and to this day I cannot see any benefits from the distinction of "recent" and "latest".
 
Sorry: Latest posts don't contain posts you've viewed. Recent posts contain all new posts since your last visit.
