So,
I have been a huge fan of Violet Evergarden and all it's OSTs especially those composed by Evan Call. The sound an feelings that some of his compositions give off are just magical. Some of them sound light but also deep at the same time and it's one of my goals to try and emulate those...
We just added new legatos as free update to Synchron Woodwinds Flute I, Oboe II, and Clarinet I:

With the brass upon us, what are you dreaming about for the woodwinds?
Personally, I’d love a series of beautifully sampled soloists for lead themes, plus practical gestures and runs to help blend into the first 2 chapters of the orchestra.

Woodwinds are having a hard time nowadays, but I wanted to do this comparison between what I think are the best two WW libraries (atm).

I've been on the search for a good recorder library, and honestly it's been really tough even finding them. One of the hardest things to google, because of the 'unfortunate' name and lack of online lists. With that said, can we just huddle up and put together a complete list of availabilities...

Hello!
I'm only an amateur, so I realize that there are much better compositions here. I just want to share my music and get critique from better composers than I am.
The recording of guitar could be better, but I have absolutely no experience in that matter. Only few YouTube videos. If you...
I've been wanting to get BBC Symphony Orchestra for a while mainly for some good woodwinds, but apparently VSL Synchron Woodwinds are considered the best? Are there pros and cons to each?
Hey fellow VI'ers,
Happy New Year!!
So, I don't often post here, but as I came across this little gem - quick tips guide today, I thought that this was worth a mention.
Anne-Kathrin Dern, an upcoming composer, with some great projects under her belt, has a stream of really useful and...
I have CSS+CSSS+Century Strings for strings and only Century Brass for brass.Do you think i should go with csw?.I have an eye on Cinewinds but will i have problems glueing together with 3 different stages recording sound? You can give another option of course!
My budget is very low so i could...
Hey friends! For those of you on the fence about this developer and whether or not you think the libraries are worth the investment, I put together a super short video demoing the patches so you can decide for yourself. In case you're curious, the strings and woodwinds are my go-to, while for...

Hey everyone! In today's sample library review, let's take a look at the long-awaited release from Cinematic Studios: the woodwinds. How does it hold up?
I'm trying to create more realistic woodwind sounds. I have EW Hollywood Orchestra Gold, so using those WW, which I know sparks some debate on these forums. It's what I've got for now.
I've read the manual a few times, and often keep it open when I'm entering parts.
A few questions for those...
Happy 2021 my friends! I hope you're staying well and safe throughout these difficult times, but a new year means a fresh start, and with that, I'd like to kick things off with my first original song in over 3 years. Songwriting was always my first love, so it was really a pleasure to revisit my...
I made a little "opening track" last year and published it January 1st, so I decided to do it again!
Happy new year folks!
The beginning is a little dark, but it brightens up.
So we have now found out that not only Vista Strings are coming soon, but also LASS 3.0 (Modern Scoring Strings ) and Cinematic Studio Woodwinds.
We have heard demos from CSW and Vista and most agree they sound excellent. A lot of people love Lass , so the sequel looks like it should be a...
Hey everyone,
So, in my quest for the perfect oboe VI, I have tried:
- CH Winds
- 8DIO Claire
- BWW EXP B
- SSW
But none of them are really doing it for me. I've been using this phrase from "Frightening Dungeons ~ Cursed Towers" By Koichi Sugiyama to gauge the tone, legato, etc:
Recently...
Hello,
Is there another sample library (preferably orchestral) that have smart voice split feature like session horns and session strings?
Here's an example:
Thank you.
Hi everyone! In this video, I wanted to take a deeper look into the traditional Chinese instruments heard in many pieces and film scores. I hope you learn and discover something from this presentation!

Hi friends! Today, let's take a slightly different path and examine how to write in a chorale style for woodwinds and brass. With so many colours at our disposal, what's a good way to approach this? Let's dive in.

Hello,
I've been searching for a while now here on vi-control and YouTube but couldn't find anyone who could possibly give me an answer to this.
The only thread I could find some information was too old to consider all the choices one has now.
I think the most important detail I have to...

I randomly had this theme stuck in my head for the last weeks or so.
Made a quick cover yesterday, to maybe get rid of that. Orchestration is not 100% like the real thing, but close.
I think the Cinematic Studio Sound fits pretty well.
Winds (barely audible, but there is a flute, oboe and...
Hey guys! Here is a short piece I wrote, featuring Spitfire Epic Brass & Woodwinds, clearly inspired by the phenomenal John Williams. Hope you like it :)
Any tipps on that? How do harp runs work in the real world? What about strings and woodwinds?
How fast can runs be played realistically? Which notes do I need to hit (scale / chromatic)?
Any advice is welcome.
This one is already a couple of months old, but rather than forgetting that I ever made this I decided to release it as a single at this very fitting date :)
Enjoy, happy new year!
Hi Vi-loving peers! This is the culmination of my opinions on the libraries I think that will give you a super solid foundation in composing cinematic orchestral music. If you'd prefer to have a physical guide to read over, please download the PDF I created specifically for this video in the...
I would be very grateful for some feedback, in particular in regard to how I work the EW Hollywood samples and the overall balance of the orchestra :)
Getting a decent sound out of EW HW is hard, but sadly I don't have the budget to order Spitfire or Berlin. Maybe some day!
Cheers,
-B87

Owning the full collection from KU-CE 12, I would like to give it a try and see what‘s actually possible.
Barely used it before but everything should be put to a test under fair conditions.
I‘m curious what you already got out of the strings, brass and woodwinds, as I could only find very few...
I'd love to know what you think.
The composition is a little repetitive, but so is obsessive thinking, and I was trying to convey madness from that point of view: a madman who thinks he's still a genius, standing in his office, thinking obsessively and looking through some "interesting" papers...
I was always interested on why does woodwinds in ff sounds much lower in volume than brass...
It is hard to hear all instruments in full orchestra, have to add some gain for ww section in order to hear it properly.
Would appreciate a good answer
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share a story of which I'm very proud of.
Since I was little I always dreamed of being a film composer after hearing the fantastic soundtrack of Once Upon A Time In The West. I took keyboard an piano lessons and after a while I really got addicted to the whole...
Hi friends, today I wanted to share a new original piece of mine with you.
This track represents a turning point in my musical journey. Up until this point, I have composed and produced upbeat, exciting, and (hopefully) catchy themes reminiscent of Super Mario Galaxy and Disney.
For this...
I know the strings/brass-samples are custom made, but I can not find out what f.ex SO 2fl legato etc is. I see Berlin Woodwinds, Albion 1 Legacy/ONE, but I'm stuck at the flutes!
Any takers? :)
Cinesamples CineWinds Core or Spitfire Symphonic Woodwinds
What would be your choice, overall and mainly in terms of realism.
Which one blends better in the mix with other libraries?
NI Symphony Series Woodwinds would be a third choice of mine, but I don‘t think it can compete with the other...
This is a pretty short review but... sadly I couldn't find much to like about this collection :/. Going to be doing a few more quick reviews in the coming weeks, as I continue to work on writing a big one for Genesis Choir by Audiobro, per request from my last poll :)

It's been 6 years since the release of this beautiful library, and it still stands as one of the best woodwind libraries on the market today. Watching this preview brought me great inspiration, and I hope it does for you as well.
Why does the first version of Albion 1 show up in so many composers VST-lists?
Albion ONE has a "Legacy"-version included - is this the same as the original version? Both Junkie XL and Daniel James claim they use the original version for various reasons.
Do you guys still prefer the first...
Hello! Help identify the wind instrument in this track (Benjamin Wallfisch - Abigail). I thought it was an oboe. But most likely I am mistaken. Thank you in advance!

I'm looking for a sample library. I currently own Miroslav Philharmonik 2 CE. I've been using it for a while and while you can get decent results out of it (at the cost of time...) I'm looking for an upgrade. I mostly write fairly "small" music. Therefore I thought Albion II...

Yikes, Black Friday isn't even here yet and I'm already nervously contemplating pulling the trigger on some sales.

Skipped Sotto, for now. Pillowy beautiful textural stuff, but I'm sort of getting there with elbow grease anyway. Wish I was in that much of a hurry as to need Sotto immediately. Alas, such is not the case.
BUT. I don't have enough expression at my fingertips. This is true. SCS is great, and...
