I've just got this in my YouTube feed notification. Seems like a pretty cool contest! I'm sure many people here will enjoy participating.

Contest Guidelines:
- Compose a one minute piece exclusively using our new Virtual Instrument plugin Musio (no other sample libraries/virtual instruments/live instruments)
- Get extra points if you use one of our many Vocal libraries.
- Create a video featuring your finished music. Feel free to get as creative as you’d like, but a simple recording using your phone camera is okay too
- Submit your piece by posting the video on Instagram, remember to tag @musio and use the hashtag #MadeWithMusio
- Submission deadline is January 23rd, 2024

Prizes:
- 1st place: $1,000 cash
- 2nd place: Musio 1 perpetual license
- 3rd place: 1 year subscription to Musio

I don't feel anything for creating a video to support an entry that is supposed to be about the music. What a dumb idea to put this in.

Will this be taken into account when judging the piece?

I think the video supposed to be like a DAW session in progress while your track is playing.

Hm, maybe you're right, but even then I think it's a mistake to not have the option to just send in the music.

Edit: I didn't even see the Instagram bit. This is not going to work for me. Pitty.

It's a wonderful thing they're doing this, but I'm sad that it needs to be posted to Instagram....yet I also understand why they want it to be.

Hey guys, how is it going?

Here is my submission. I used Apocalyptica, CineStringsPro, CineSymphony, CineBrass, Studio Basses, Cineperc Drum Kit and Voxos choir.

I would love to listen to other members entries here!

By the way, I thought that just posting your music video on Instagram with tags is enough for participation. Actually, as I saw on their website, you also need to submit the link in the form:

Oh geez, Jason Hayes will be judging the finalists!.. This man has been my music idol for many years! Just thanks to him I decided to start learning digital music composing and set a goal to become a game composer!..

Really cool! Great work!

Wow! Jason Hayes is one of my favorite composers as well! From playing WoW, his music is practically in my DNA. Now I wish I had taken vacation to work on this piece, but it is what is... I'm going to do some finishing touches on mine. I will share it when I'm done! :)

@syrinx, thank you so much for your kindness!

I'll be looking forward to your composition! Wishing you to get to the finals in order to get Jason's personal review!

Jason's music is also in my DNA=) After all these years I'm still listening to WoW soundtrack, sometimes just putting it as background. I still remember how I was just watching the very first WoW cinematic!.. 😍

The submission deadline is January 23rd.

Here is the link already for the livestream of the top 10 finalists, scheduled on January 31st at 1pm PST.

Hi Maria (et al). I plan to submit an entry, putting the finishing touches on it today and the video Monday (my birthday). It's odd how inspiration hits sometimes, isn't it? I wasn't planning to do an entry and while working on my current project a section just kind of popped out. LOL In fact it didn't fit the original project so it kind of has/had a life of its own. It's been a great opportunity to download some new Musio instruments and get to know them.

BTW if anyone still thinks you have to post your piece to Instagram you don't (per the Musio comments in their YT announcement vid). You can post it on YT and submit the link which is what I plan to do.

Hi Chris, yay, that's great, that you decided to participate!=) I'm looking forward to listen/watch your entry - curious, what instruments you chose.
And happy birthday!

@Ferenc Bátri, yay, so happy you decided to participate too and composed such beautiful piece! :)
Jason Hayes will definitely appreciate this one - it has the beautiful fantasy vibe, suitable for the World of Warcraft reality!..

I absolutely loved your entry (as all your contests works!=)) - so beautiful, unique, and the top-quality mix! I'm sure you will be in the finals again! ;)

@Gedren, here's mine. The Musio instruments I used are in the YT video info. I spent a few days researching Icelandic music on YT before I dug into Musio's Iceland instruments and both the North choirs. I was especially inspired by all the choir works from Iceland--what a beautiful and rich music culture. Now my wife wants to take a trip to Iceland :)

I see from your Instagram post that you are an accomplished violinist! My dear mother was a violinist and gave me lessons until junior high school. No I cannot actually play that instrument except via MIDI LOL

Thank you so much, kind Maria, I also enjoy your piece 🤎:emoji_metal:

Nice piece and vid @syrinx. Yeah we could always use more time... I recall the saying about works of art never being "done" but rather they have to just be abandoned :)

@Chris_B, wow, fantastic entry! Now I also feel inspired to play with their Icelandic instruments! Perfectly caught atmosphere, the track would fit perfectly to a thematic game or tv series!..
Which patch did you use for the horn in the beginning?

@syrinx, really great composition, congrats! I really got completely captivated by the music and the visuals!.. Your music really tells a story, I love how it starts softer and then changes to active part and back to softer again.
