Not many movies about classical music competitions… In fact, this is the only one I've seen. The Competition from 1980. Excellent film. Haven't seen it since it came out in 1980 but wanted Christiane to see it so we watched it last week. Still excellent. Check it out.

Good movies about the classical music world in general are pretty rare. The best one I can think of is Shine. Most of the movies about composers aren’t very good either, except for Amadeus. There is a really nice film called A Late Quartet with Christopher Walken and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
