Trailer for THQ Nordic/Ashborne Games "Last Train Home"

Henning

Composer-Musician. Gamescores. Dynamedion.
Finally the project that I have been working on for a long time has been revealed. The music in this trailer is custom crafted by me, and the mixing and SFX is done by the awesome Jiří Křupala. They really made quite an effort with this live action trailer. It's an emotional project for the whole team as the story is part of their Czech history and they have spent lots of sweat and blood on this project. The backgroundstory is based on real-life events of Czech soldiers stranded in Siberia after the end of WWI and crossing Russia in a military train to get to Wladiwostok to reach a ship to their new born Czechoslovakian home country.

Great trailer! The game looks very good, and the music went with the trailer really well - especially liked the very final section, as the train screeched to a halt, and then the tension peaked, dropped and then built back up again really quickly - really nicely done.

Thanks man, much appreciated!

By the way has anyone detected the more or less obvious hints at a famous classical piece throughout the music?😉

Here's a behind-the-scenes video regarding the making of above trailer. Incredible, the amount of man power, the effort in detail for historical accuracy and all the heart-blood they put into this trailer. So happy to be a part of this!

In case someone's interested the music uses mostly samples by Performance Samples.

Very well done. The music compliments the visuals quite nicely, and stylistically seems to fit the era very well.

I'm a 56-year-old still-a-kid-at-heart, never grew out of video games since he first laid eyes on his uncle's Pong back in the seventies. I love where the technology has allowed gaming to venture. And game music? It's a perfect pairing of the two things I probably enjoy most in the world.

Nice work, and I'm a healthy dose of envious of anyone who has had the good fortune to have had a part in this kind of work.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm a seventies kid growing up with games as well. Started with an Atari 2600 then C-64 and Amiga500 and then PCs. Now playing with my kid on Nintendo Switch. My brother had the idea of trying to get into games and sent round tapes and later CDs to gaming devs. That was in 1999. The game music world has changed a lot and our tools have so much evolved. The sample libs we use are so very close to the real thing now. I'm still a stickler for real instruments and I enjoy playing and learning new ones.

I never get tired of creating music for games. I tried to get into TV once but soon found it was not for me. But in games there's so many young people in that industry with new ideas and visions for whom their current project is a labour of love. Working together with them just makes me happy :)

Brandnew trailer completely done with my music. They actually used one of my mission tracks.

TRS-80, C-64 and an Intellivision in my room growing up! Really nice work on this project!

Historical military games take up a good chunk of my time (World of Warships recently) and this is a very interesting event I hadn't heard about before. Hope the game does great!

Thank you! Yep, the setting was totally new for me as well. Fascinating piece of Czech history. I delivered my last stems for the game a couple of days ago and I'm already missing working on this project.

Here's another trailer in case some of you are not already tired of it :) They used some of my in-game music for this. I really feel strongly for the game as the devs poured all their passion and heartblood into this.

Game is out to quite raving reviews. If you are interested here's the main theme including some hints to Smetana's Vltava-theme:
