Hello composers. Yes, I quit my job and I started vlogging about building my business from scratch. Mindset, approach, planning, assessment, major roadblocks, failures - I will talk about everything. I do not aim to be a film composer, because I'm not willing to pay the price and that is something that most people do NOT talk about- are you willing to pay the price?

Well, here's the playlist:
1 I quit my job - the inner critic

2 Starting "from scratch"
3 Spotify Strike
4 Spotify Strike cont.
5 Goals? nah- THIS-->
6 Productivity Hack
Enjoy

Hi Jules.
Thanks for encouraging me.

Of course you're welcome to subscribe. But if you're not interested in the content, there's no point.

I appreciate your good will but If what's on my channel isn't for you- don't subscribe.

I'm not offended if anyone is not interested🌞

Cheers

There's a large span of things i'm interested in and hearing your daily (weekly ? Monthly ?) report tick a few boxes, so count me in ! And i'm pretty sure i'm not alone. :)

Here's the link to the first release. Poetic piano pieces featuring NOIRE:)
Dreamy, immersive, deep, and emotional.

Hey Alex,

I watched your vlogs. Your passion really comes through in them. It's like Robin Williams level to me, so definitely being on camera is a good fit for you.

One suggestion (if you are looking for any), is that if you could somehow feature some of your music (even just snippets) in the vlogs somehow, that might serve you even better.

After watching your vlogs I thought, what the heck, let me check out his music, but I may easily not have. I am listening to "The Doom of the Noldor" and am super impressed with how good your music is. Both music and production. And in all frankness there is no real indication or hint in the vlogs that your music is at the level that it's actually at, and having a better sense of your level of musicianship could help people make the choice to follow your journey and root for you along the way.

Anyway, best of luck with your journey!

PS: maybe it's just a matter of embedding a youtube album link to your music here in this post or something like that, as presumably anyone on your channel will see all your videos/music anyway.

Hi Ka00
Thank you so much for your feedback!
I think that's an excellent suggestion, and I'll find a way to build around that. I have not done that yet because the most important part of the journey for me is to show up with no excuses, be vulnerable and be honest. So I didn't want to make it too complicated for me to publish the vlogs.

Then again, you DID find your way to my music, and that followed a principle that I find more attractive: There is enough "in the air" about my music.

Again, thank you for your feedback:)

And one of the next videos will be about haters and how to deal with them:)

No offence, but after watching your video, I feel you've made a very bad move. You just had a baby, and you quit your job because you can't let all you creativity flow? WTF? Your priorities are now ass backwards. You need a steady income to support your family (which I'm assuming you already had). There's no reason why you can't still pursue music for more than 30 minutes a day while working full time....if you want it bad enough. I'm sure I'll get flamed for my comments, but seriously, I'd reconsider your priorities/responsiblities here. You say you're not willing to "pay the price", but you are indeed going to pay a hefty one.

It was unclear, but perhaps your spouse earns a healthy income that can easily sustain your plan and family finances?

EDIT: Again, no offence intended here. I've just seen so many try this, with rose coloured glasses, with little to no success. I truly wish the best and hope you find contentment and success.

My thoughts exactly.

I don’t have a horse in this race, but playing devil’s advocate: tomorrow isn’t guaranteed and the present is all we truly have. I wasted a lot of time in my 20’s much too focused on the future to the detriment of the present. If you have things to do, do them now.

Hey Alex, good luck in your new pursuits!

I've ignored certain commenters that I see are ringing in on this thread for their constant negativity and naysaying. You might want to consider doing the same. Check out what Henry Rollins has to say about these sorts of people at 7:20:

I'd recommend searching X/Twitter for some threads on starting a business / entrepreneurship / etc. There's some amazing commentary and resources there.

Also look up Dan Koe on YouTube.

Where? I don’t see anyone telling the OP not to pursue his dreams. There’s a difference between cautious optimism, versus diving blindly into the deep end without a solid plan (especially with huge responsibilities and financial risks). Why can’t one simply pursue the musical dream without giving up a steady “bread and butter” career? If you mange your time properly, and want it bad enough, it’s 100% attainable. Believe me, I’ve done it and it worked. Any other excuses are just that….excuses.
