I don't think this has been posted before. Honest, and quite informative..
I guess it's why most become 'influencers' and/or use it as a medium to market their courses and other 'side hustles'.
I hope you're being sarcastic! Well, there's still a need for some suckers to create the music to be talked about. That's where we come in..Cool video. From what I gather, a lot of money can be made from not making music and talking about music. That is so good to hear. People don’t have to go through years of learning an instrument in order to make money.
True. The difficulty is determing who is doing that, vs who is 'teaching' more without much real experience.I don't see this as any different as an artist that loves to make music but at the same is a music teacher because that's what pays the bills.
Can you share the link ?"I've been making 10 k per month on Amazon selling ebooks, sign up to my workshop and watch a video where at the end I ask you to buy my product that does this for you, its not that I'm actually making money from selling books its that I make it the money selling a bit of software which 'could ' help you do that, that's how I make 10k a month"
No I am not. Look, everyone is not going to make a career from composing music for a living. That is a fact. So instead of feeling depressed and angry about it, why not pivot into another area that still focuses on music? Performing demonstrations on software and equipment gives a chance to make income. It also gives a chance for composers to sneak into some of their compositional skills. It can be a real game changer for those who are at a crossroads pursuing music full time. I have personally bought products based on demonstrations and have sought to listen to music from the guys and girls giving those demonstrations. They had the music skills and were able to also sell a product. If people think that selling products for a living is bad, then why are some composers so desperate to sell music for a living?I hope you're being sarcastic! Well, there's still a need for some suckers to create the music to be talked about. That's where we come in..
Well, I see your point, but at this rate, the inevitable outcome is the drying up of music and musicians. You can't have everybody focusing on being a YT influencer. For me, the big picture doesn't just involve composing..it includes performing, studio work, teaching, kids leaning the clarinet in school, etc. There are tons of unbelievably amazing youngsters, and scantily clad young women shredding on YT, mainly doing covers of technically challenging classic rock (guitar, bass, drums), but it seems that the main reason they're doing it is to be YT stars. Guess we'll have to live with it..No I am not. Look, everyone is not going to make a career from composing music for a living. That is a fact. True. Musicians and composers need to be more desperate to make money than be more desperate to be better musicians. It's always been better to make jeans, picks and shovels than to dig for gold
Yes, the merchants made more money during the gold rush, than the dreamers. Being a musician, except for the very few, is not a road to riches. If I wanted that, I would have gotten a degree in a marketable field, rather than music. But I stuck it out, and have no regrets. It's always been better to make jeans, picks and shovels than to dig for gold
I still don't get it.. If money is your primary goal, and learning an instrument and composing is a burden and a waste of time, why bother?True. Musicians and composers need to be more desperate to make money than be more desperate to be better musicians.
I wholeheartedly agree. Making music still makes a lot of sense, if it’s not primarily about economics, but for the numerous other rewards it can hold for the right person in the right circumstance.Being a musician, except for the very few, is not a road to riches. If I wanted that, I would have gotten a degree in a marketable field, rather than music. But I stuck it out, and have no regrets.
Music gives me a genuine pleasure. You can spend your life discovering new things. I value that more than money.

I get it. I almost forgot that I'm the one who put that video up. I did it to share some concrete info on the realities of that market, but frankly, it seems like a of work, making 500 videos, setting up lights, editing , etc. It can be quite lucrative for some people, but it's not a field I'm really interested in.The point is to make money on YouTube as a musician.
