Staffpad file management on iPad?

I am looking for insights, tips, experiences with organizing Staffpad files on an iPad. I am aware of the "Library" = long list of all files, which essentially offers no way of organizing files; and "Collections" - a very basic tagging system, that also offers no way of organizing like viewing only one tag, not even searching by tag.

I'd like to use Staffpad much more for jotting down ideas, writing counterpoint -, harmony -, orchestration - etc exercises, and of course scores. That quickly generates many many files. I have not found a way to organize them well in Staffpad nor how to easily/quickly export them into a documents app that allows for folder structure organizing.

Please share your tips and experiences.

The options are limited. An intuitive naming system is important—making use of the subtitles—and then I try to keep corresponding files in collections. Otherwise, I’m not sure there are any other options.

Thx for your reply. I feared that this is the situation. I shall make a feature request. Others, who would also like better file management, please do the same.

I would also be thrilled to see better file management in Staffpad. I regularly start new "studies" and "exercises" in Staffpad and they just get lost in the noise after a while. Just being able to search on tags in the Collection tab would probably be a huge QOL improvement and low hanging fruit for the dev team. A "tree structure" of sort would probably be even better, but it feels like the interface just does not seem to be responsive enough to handle that right now.

Slightly OT, but in the same vein.
I am looking into moving the actual sample libraries somewhere else.

Windows offers something of the sort for apps and the sample libraries used in Staffpad are listed as apps. Support is not sure if this will go well, but I am willing to try it.

It would be great to have the option to move the libraries where they sit conveniently on a faster drive with more space, e.g.

On my iPad Staffpad using iCloud starts making duplicate copies of scores I previously worked on when I reopen them to make changes. It’s not unusual to see something like five copies of a composition due to the way Staffpad saves files.

Yeah, staffpad's file management especially with iCloud sync turned on is very flaky. I have a long-standing reminder to turn off iCloud sync altogether and rely on manual backups. I've read that this is more reliable. I'm scared to make changes though – but I suppose backing up all local + iCloud scores before switching sync off, then copying iCloud backed up scores to local storage should do it.

I have been so paranoid about this file system for a long time. I can access my iCloud Drive from my Mac, and I just periodically copy the entire StaffPad folder to a backup folder on my computer. I also airdrop .stf files and PDFs to my computer when I’ve made significant updates to a piece. In fairness, the system has never failed me, but this morning I opened StaffPad to find only the default pieces that come with StaffPad. My work was all missing. Shutting down StaffPad and restarting restored them, but geez, it makes me a nutter.
