Here's my entry for the 2024 competition
Constructive feedback is welcomed:
Used the instrumentation suggested in the brief:
- WW a1: flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon
- Brass: 2 trumpets, 2 horns, 2 trombone (one on bass trombone)
- Studio string orchestra
- 2 percussionsist (playing: snare drum, bass drum, triangle, piatti, glockenspiel, xylophone and timpani)
Was fun having limitations on the instruments, as I had to orchestrate differently then I'm used to. Did add a choir in 2 places though, as I felt it was needed, but that could easily be a sample for a final mix after a recording session, I think
For those interested in the mockup:
Used Aaron Venture Infinite woodwinds for the flute, the rest of the winds are V-Winds by Acoustic samples. Brass is Aaron Venture infinite brass for the 2 horns, the rest is Sample modeling, and mostly Cinematic studio strings for strings, and some Spitfire studio strings for a bit more presence on the pizzicato. Percussion is True Strike (snare, bass drum, timpani, piatti) and Spitfire BBC SO core (xylophone and glockenspiel). The choir is Performance sample Oceania 1 and Fluffy audio Dominus choir pro.
