Indie Film Music Contest Winter 2023

The IFMC Winter 2023 is open for registration.
Standard costs 43€ incl. VAT (with feedback 67€) that's almost 100% more than the last contest :/
Has anyone seen the film yet?
Yep I've seen both. They're actually good, but as always, I have a feeling most will go for the live action one😂 In my opinion both are good but because I did the Pinata one last time in what was my very first contest and 2nd time scoring at all, I'm trying the live action one this time.

I like the youth film best unfortunately, and am many years past qualifying for that. The others are decent as well though. You do have access to all three films if you just want them for practice which is nice.

Here is the live action one. I finished it over the Thanksgiving holiday. I took a gamble on at least one of the films being good because they have had pretty good films in the past. Also, having lost my father just a couple of weeks ago, I needed the distraction over the holiday. Of course, this film is about loss over a holiday so spoke to me on a pretty profound level. Grieving is hard, but there is still joy to be found in it. I have learned joy and sorrow are not mutually exclusive (in fact, I am not sure one can exist without the other). My music may not be particularly good, but it is still the best catharsis I have.

I feel you wrote a wonderful score. Thank you!

I just cried watching this...And I know it wasn't just because of the story, but also because of the music. Excellent work! Thanks for sharing.

This is a great score and thank you so much for sharing. I've unfortunately had a few family passings this year and one more recently. Which means it's the first time we are having christmas without them which instantly made this film hit home. But I've been struggling to write to this film because of it. The moment I start the emotions are overwhelming. It's bittersweet as music is always that outlet that allows you to release those emotions and be free but it feels like I haven't been able to do that for this piece and almost just went to do the animation.
But you have inspired me to push on through and see where the music takes me. So again thank you.

Thank you so much for listening and your very kind words. I am glad the music resonated for you. I truly hope you and your family find some measure of peace over the upcoming holidays.

Getting the sense this one is not too popular with VI-Cers (probably because it requires an entry fee) but I would love to hear any other entries on this one.

I just submitted the animation which I wanted feedback on. I did score the live action for my own practice but will probably make a couple changes before publicly sharing it. I also plan on scoring the under 23 animation when I have some time. Anyway here's my entry:
