Orchestration Newbie - Short piece looking for constructive feedback

Hey guys/gals,

I have recently started to delve into Orchestration after having a long appreciation for it. I have a musical background which has assisted me so far but some external viewpoints would be great!

Whilst it has been incredibly enjoyable and eye-opening (also great to be studious again!) as someone who is self-learning, I would like some feedback/advice to see what I’m doing well and where I could look to improve.

Here is a short piece I have recently put together (only audio currently) all sampled through Nucleus:

Hope you enjoy it at least!

Thanks in advance! 😃

My ears want to hear something in the 4th beat, like free counterpoint or some drum action, instead of a rest. Especially just before the choir starts (last beat of last measure before the choir starts) and also the choir part until 0:31 and also 0:34 to 0:40, the rest of the piece is fine due to the brass melody (fills that rest) and the phrase development (choir part alaso fills that rest). The beginning is fine with the rest (theres a little synth? that fills the rest at the beginning btw), but then, after a while my ears want to hear something in that 4th beat.

Greatly appreciate the feedback man! Your points have given me some food for thought going forward.
