What's new

UAD PolyMax

I’ll give them props for opening the video with “Swedish Brass” as the first preset, still hate UAD though
I am not impressed either. Too flat or clean or whatever the official word is in English. :)

It would be so cool if they made a hardware synth that could also act as a controller for the software.

This synth can now be purchased for $50, in the current sale that runs until 3/31/23. Prices are 50% and there’s a one-time $50 off voucher auto-applied in your cart. It is also a version that runs natively without any UAD hardware, and without subscription.

I like the clean user interface (but for the blinking envelope bars).
None too impressed by the 'Best of' presets so far.

This was my default installation path for Windows:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Universal Audio\Plug-Ins\uaudio_polymax.lunacomponent\algo.bundle\Contents\Resources\presets

If you run UA Connect the installation path appears by clicking the Settings (gear) icon.

I much prefer Opal, but who can complain for $0?
The price is right!
BTW on Windows I had to deactivate UAConnect, which starts everytime with Windows for no good reasons.
Then again, so does the latest version of Ableton Live with Ableton Push, even if you don't have one.

Couple this with the reactivation of the cloud in my iLok License Manager and the ubiquity of subtractive synth VIs, I'm uninstalling. I had a similar experience with Steven Slate's Fresh Air freebie. CPU is not really a concern for me but I am going to try to keep it that way.
