TAL Sampler goes granular

hah, yes I did :) Patrick at TAL and I have been working together on all his plugins since TAL Sampler came out around...7 years ago?
We're not aiming for Falcon, Pigments etc. depth of control but in keeping with the rest of TAL Sampler where immediacy and the sound are priorities. It's still possible to do some fairly complex things though when one layer can host multi-samples, triggering simultaneously or key-range and velocity switching and every mapping/sample within that multi can have different stretch/grain settings if you desire (or have the patience to set up o_O) then you still have 3 other layers to add.
All of the modelled filtering and AD/DA conversion/resampling is still present in the grain mode so you have a granular synth with a variety of vintage sounds, S1000 or EMU hardware etc. with a granular mode!
Thank you for sharing @Pier , much appreciated.

So this isn't an April Fools joke? I genuinely couldn't tell when I saw it! On the one hand, the idea of granular effects in TAL Sampler didn't seem right; and on the other hand, the whole thing just didn't seem unlikely enough to be a joke.

But TAL Sampler has always been able to manipulate the speed and bit rate of samples, so why not granular?

a few people did point out that the news was badly timed, perhaps so. I have a fairly strong dislike of the "hilarity" that ensues around this time so I don't much think about it, I do however get to enjoy it both on April 1st here in NZ and April 2nd again while the rest of the world catches up and keeps the amazing puns flowing. Enough bah humbug from me, at least until next year :) [shakes fist at passing cloud]

The thinking initially had been a standalone grain instrument, something we'd been discussing for quite a while. For various reasons we thought it would be a good fit inside TAL Sampler instead. I'm pretty happy because now we have it with those great zero feedback delay filters and the carefully modelled filtering/resampling/reconstruction signal path of a set of vintage samplers but with granular playback of the samples. I'm looking forward to being able to integrate this a bit into the next TAL Sampler pack, more on this in a bit, a (for me) quite exciting collaboration with a musician I have a lot of respect for and whose aesthetic is pretty neatly aligned with mine.

I'm glad to hear that you are reassuringly grumpy about prankish humour! And I do think this is a perfect development for your aesthetic. I'm pleased to hear you've got an interesting project in the works, especially one that you are enjoying.

Until I hear otherwise, I'll be assuming that you're working with Ed Sheeran.

Not seeing TAL-Sampler 4.4.2 on Site, and hoping to do Trial /Demo. Any added timing info ?

I'm speechless you would work it out so easily tbh. Stay tuned!
I deeply appreciate a good pun btw, if I see one more "lol, it's a piano but it's only got 1 key" or "this plugin perfectly replicates silence" or whatever the heck stuff gets trollied out year after year then I may be forced to delete the internet and conduct my business entirely through the medium of postcards! Actually, now I say that, hmm...

You can download it from the front page. It's free to use to all TAL Sampler license owners.

ah you beat me to it (too busy daydreaming about Ed), yeah the TAL Sampler product page will be updated once we have a stable release, which shouldn't be too long.
