Does Best Service Engine even exist anymore?

The last information I heard (from December 2022) was that version 3 should release this year. It will be no longer compatible with Magix Independence which might suggest, that the already released libraries will not work in version 3 or need to be remade from scratch since they all use the Independence file formats.

Making it incompatible with the libraries that pay for its development does not sound like a smart move. So, I suspect that Independence libraries like Majestic won't run – possibly because some bits got removed – but that the Tarilonte stuff, some of which is pretty new, will. Or at least they will with a point release.

It may simply be that there's some licensed code buried in it, such as the reverb (though I think Origami was Yellow Tools' own work) that just won't make it to Apple Silicon.

I am just glad that my Tarilonte libraries still work, but it feels like it's all barely hanging in there.

Purely speculative on my part but I can imagine Eduardo Tarilonte must be leaving an enormous amount of library sales on the table by his chosen platform. If his libraries were Kontakt libraries I think his sales would increase exponentially.

Also pure speculation: it could have been for contractual reasons. When he started out it did not look like Engine would soon become essentially abandon-ware - perhaps by contract he was bound to keep producing only on this platform. It would be hard to explain otherwise. I know in my case I always look what else is out there for Kontakt etc when I need to acquire a library that falls into Talionte territory, and it is sad because his libraries are wonderful.

This would be my assumption either contractual or he might have teamed-up with Best Service/Engine for financial backing,making them partners.
What I find puzzling is Best Service is quite successful as a internet retailer,they carry great products that utilize other library sampler-platforms,so they see the numbers and the advantages but they stick to this horrible universally despised Engine.

Talking to a best service support staff last year, the person claimed they are in the testing process of new Engine software.
 
I'm using Ancient Era Persia lately and stunned by how far they went with some intricate details.
By the features ENGINE 2 already has in PRO EDIT mode, I can see why Engine 3 is taking this long.

BestEngine sound libraries trailers are sounding (and looking) very attractive.
a new version would probably be a bless for a fresh interface-look yet, i have no knowledge of what could be improved technically as this is just sampler(?)
I do hope that it will support old libraries and at the same time, they will be remade for it and for other samplers too (i like to hope for the entire cake)
 
It staggers me how little Engine is updated, and how long Apple Silicon native compatibility is taking. The plugin itself is not enjoyable to use with those tiny square fonts (what where they thinking?) and V3 has been stuck in “coming soon” status for ages.

If it wasn’t for Tarilonte’s spectacular libraries like Forest Kingdom, I wouldn’t care. I would have abandoned Best Service long ago.

Sorry for my terrible negativity. I’m not normally so opinionated about plugins, but the way Best Service neglect Engine really peeves me.

Oh Eduardo, why did you have to wed your wonderful talents to such a crappy plugin?
