Guys,
I’m not entirely sure where to put this. I’m having a problem with a Roland EV5 expression pedal but only on my Mac. Apparently, it works perfectly well on my Windows 10 machine using either Reaper, Sibelius or Komplete Kontrol Stand Alone. But it doesn’t work on my Mac in KK, Sibelius or Logic. Here’s the deal:
Whereas in Windows, you can execute a perfectly good decrescendo from 127 to 0, on the Mac, the lowest CC11 value you can get is 39 before the pedal starts shooting out values in the 100s while your foot is still steadily closing the pedal.
At first, I thought this was a hardware problem involving either the pedal or the jack on the S61. But I tried an identical EV5 pedal I keep in one of my other keyboard cases and the problem was the same. I then tried my first pedal on the windows machine and discovered that it worked as it always had. So, since the problem happens in all my Mac apps, I have to believe it’s something in the Mac, and not even just in Logic. It’s got to be something at the OS level. Although, I can’t imagine what that would be for the life of me.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what I can do to restore functionality to this pedal in the Mac environment, I’d be very grateful.
Bests,
Kevin
