Question about modulating modulator

Hi all!

Noob question about modulating Multi LFO's Depth parameter with LFO... Normally when you modulate parameter, you initialize the parameter with some value, and then use the modulator to decrease and/or increase it. For some reason (Bug?) I can only decrease the Depth parameter in Multi LFO. Any thoughts?

I attached multi which hopefully demonstrates the problem. Analog PWM Multi LFO is used to modulate the PWM parameter in Analog synth. Depth LFO is used to modulate Depth parameter in Multi LFO. I have set the Depth to its minimum value, but no matter what I do, I cannot make the LFO increase it.

Of course I can switch approach and set the maximum value... Is this a bug or am I missing something here?

I'm not on my music computer so can't try this right now. I don't remember these oscillators well, but have you tried doing this with the basic LFO modulator. This definitely has bi-directional modulation as standard (you have to click a button to make it uni-directional).

Yes, there is a bipolar option below the wave form display and to the left of the Normalized button.

I should have downloaded your image to look, as it is visible there!

I downloaded your patch to check, and the bipolar option works as it should on my system.

Hi @Bee_Abney, ty for the reply. Are we talking about the same thing? My goal is to move the Depth value in the green area, see attached image, but now matter what options I use, it stays in the red area. I have tried to use bipolar option and adjust the modulation amount slider, but it just moves in the red area

EDIT: If you change the Depth LFO to sine, it might be a bit easier to see what is happening with the Depth value.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. It does work for me. I'll take a look incase I'm mistaken.

Yes, you're right. I was looking at the wrong bit. But I can get it to work and I've attached the Program to this message.

Basically, you set depth to full, set the 'amount' bar to half way, and shift the phase of the square wave.

Yes, you solution works because you have changed the Depth parameters default value to desired maximum, 100%, but what if you want to start, for some odd reason, from the desired minimum, 50%.

I can work with the maximum approach, as i said in my original post, I was just thinking that am I missing something because it doesn't seem to behave as i was expecting.

Thanks for checking the file

Yes, it's weird for sure.
